Footwear

Your feet are important

Your feet are important because they hold your body up and are the base of your support.

Orthotic House specialises in finding the right footwear for the difficult foot, whether the problem be bunions, ingrown toenails or calluses. We can also provide footwear with extra width and depth, which is especially suitable for the diabetic and rheumatoid foot and any other unhappy feet. Colin and the team correctly fit you with appropriate footwear by assessing your lifestyle, activities, occupation and hobbies.

Choose Orthotic House footwear, in conjunction with medical treatment, to prevent pain and discomfort in your feet.

What can you expect from your first consultation?

  • Your medical condition, relating to your orthotic needs, will be discussed
  • Your feet and gait will be assessed
  • Your feet will be correctly measured
  • Your footwear requirements will also be discussed, taking into consideration your medical condition and lifestyle
(It is a good idea to bring a selection of your footwear to show the orthotist what you would normally wear)
  • You will be shown different types of footwear that would be appropriate for you and given advice about what to look for if shopping for footwear in a retail outlet
  • Indication of costs (all costs will be discussed during your consultation.)
  • Extra depth and width footwear ranges from $150.00 + consultation

Custom innersoles

An insole is a removable layer inside a shoe that provides extra comfort or support. Insoles come in many shapes, sizes, and support levels that are designed to fit a variety of different foot types, which is why it's important to have one that is right for you. We will advise you of the correct choice for you.

  • An ‘off the shelf’ product may be appropriate for you
    • We will provide and fit
  • If you require a custom innersole, a mould or cast will be taken off your foot. These will take approximately ten working days to be finished before we fit them into your footwear
    • It is sometimes necessary to make small alterations to these as you get used to wearing them. There is no charge for these alterations.
    • The life expectancy of your custom innersoles is 6-18 months, depending on your lifestyle
  • Indication of costs (all costs will be discussed during your consultation.) Innersoles range from $85.00 depending on your requirements.

Follow-up care

All consultations will be followed up with a phone call from us at regular intervals. We are results driven; it is important to us that you are getting the most from your footwear and orthotics.
