Support through every trimester—and beyond
Pregnancy changes how your body moves. Our orthotists provide calm, evidence-based guidance and fittings so you can stay comfortable and active.
What we do: assess your movement, discuss goals, and fit supports (belts, wrist/thumb splints, compression, foot orthoses) with clear wear-and-care advice.
When to come in: any time discomfort limits daily life—early is fine.

Compression stockings
We understand how uncomfortable this can be after a long day standing or on hot days – so we’ve got tips for you!
Regular rest with elevating your feet and legs, accompanied by light exercises, can greatly assist in mitigating symptoms associated with vein problems.
It is also recommended to wear compression stockings to prevent the development of varicose veins and other venous insufficiency conditions.
Compression stocking will reduce your risk of:
- Swelling (Edema)
- Leg pain by increasing the pressure in the tissue under the skin
- Throbbing or itching at the end of the day
- Blood pooling in your lower limbs – blood clots
- Varicose veins
Wearing compression stockings from your second trimester onwards will also improve your post-natal recovery.
Our qualified specialists will make sure that every measure will be taken so that wearing compression garments can be done safely without compromising comfort or restricting blood flow.
Abdominal support belts
Pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy
Pelvic girdle pain (PGP) is common in pregnancy. As ligaments soften and the joints at the back (sacroiliac) and front (symphysis pubis) of the pelvis move a little more—and sometimes unevenly—discomfort can follow.
How a maternity support belt can help
- A professionally fitted abdominal support belt can make everyday activity more comfortable by:
- Reducing strain on the lower back and pelvic joints
- Gently lifting and supporting the bump
- Helping stabilise the pelvis and may improve balance
- Making it easier to stay active within your comfort range
- Providing light postnatal support, including after abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti)
When to start
Many people find support belts helpful from around 20 weeks, but you can try one earlier if discomfort begins sooner. The right time is when you feel you need extra support.
Safety and what to expect
When fitted and worn correctly, support belts are safe for you and your baby. They don’t “fix” the underlying cause of PGP; think of them as one part of your plan alongside movement strategies, gentle exercise, and guidance from your midwife, GP, physio, or orthotist.
Get the right fit
Our orthotists will size and position your belt, show you how to adjust it as your body changes, and advise on when and how long to wear it for best effect.
Ready to feel more supported? Book a fitting and we’ll help you find comfortable, confident movement through pregnancy and beyond.
Baby Helmets for Baby Helmet Therapy
Head shape deformities can range from mild to severe, with nearly half falling into the mild or moderate category. Do not be concerned as cranial remodeling helmets have been proven to be a highly effective solution for correcting these deformities.
Although infants’ heads often reshape naturally, an undetected flat spot may necessitate intervention. Early detection is critical to ensuring that your baby’s skull returns to normal shape without difficulty.
The three main types of skull flattening are:
- Plagiocephaly – the flattening of one side of the baby’s head. You may notice that one side of your baby’s face is slightly more forward than the other.
- Brachiocephaly – the flattening across the back of the baby’s head, which can cause the head to look wider.
- Scaphocephaly – the flattening of both sides of the baby’s head, making it look long and narrow.
Your baby’s doctor may have recommended cranial orthosis, which means they must be fitted with a special helmet that helps create the right shape for their skull. Don’t worry – it won’t hurt or be uncomfortable!
To ensure your little one gets the best possible result from this therapy, they must be professionally assessed and fitted by a medical professional, as purchasing off-the-shelf helmets could do more harm than good.
